Patna, May 1, 2024: Union Minister and BJP candidate Arrah RK Singh, said on Wednesday that Bhojpuri film star Pawan Singh will be expelled from the party if he does not withdraw his nomination as an independent candidate from the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency.
“It is not only my opinion but also the party’s stand that either he should withdraw his candidature or he will be expelled from the party,” Singh said.
Pawan Singh’s decision to contest independently of Karakat has turned the contest triangular:
Pawan Singh’s decision to contest independently of Karakat has turned the contest triangular. The NDA candidate in Karakat is Upendra Kushwaha, president of Rashtriya Lok Morcha, “If Upendra Kushwaha wins, he will strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anyone contesting against him is opposing our party and the Prime Minister,” RK Singh added.
In the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan), the seat has gone to the CPI(ML), which has fielded Rajaram Singh, another prominent Kushwaha leader.
Pawan Singh, a popular Bhojpuri actor from Bhojpuri district, is believed to have a strong following among upper-caste voters, potentially denting the NDA’s vote share in Karakat.
The 7th phase election will be held on June 1:
Earlier, the BJP had announced Pawan Singh as its candidate from Asansol (West Bengal), but he refused the offer. He was reportedly expecting a ticket from Arrah, Karakat, or Buxar, and decided to contest independently after being denied.
Polling in the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency is scheduled for the seventh phase on June 1.
