Patna, October 6, 2026: Jan Suraaj founder and Bankipur MLA Prashant Kishor on Tuesday campaigned in Patna for the party’s candidates for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, urging teachers and graduates to vote for change.

Kishor addressed a nomination rally at the Aditi Community Centre on Sinha Library Road in support of Patna Teachers’ constituency candidate Dr Divya Jyoti and Patna Graduates’ constituency candidate Dr Anuj Kumar Singh.

The Bihar Legislative Council elections for the eight Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies are scheduled for October 23.

Addressing the gathering, Prashant Kishor promised to secure the Seventh Pay Commission benefits for teachers before the next Lok Sabha elections.

He said he would pursue the issue through every available political means and asserted that Jan Suraaj would continue its campaign until teachers received the pay scale and recognition they deserved.

Prashant Kishor launched a sharp attack on JD(U) candidate Neeraj Kumar, questioning his record during his years in public life.

He alleged that Kumar had failed to secure the Seventh Pay Commission pay scale for teachers and questioned his claim to seek their votes now.

Similar criticism and the challenge to Kumar have been reported from Kishor’s campaign in Patna.

Prashant Kishor challenged Nitish Kumar for public campaign:

Kishor also challenged Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to publicly campaign for Neeraj Kumar.

He said that if Nitish Kumar appeared on camera and appealed to voters to support Kumar, Jan Suraaj would withdraw its candidate.

Kishor, however, added that any such video should be genuine and not AI-generated, referring to an earlier controversy over an AI-generated video in Bankipur.

He further alleged that those who had remained in power for 15-20 years had failed to address issues concerning teachers and had remained silent on alleged atrocities and killings involving members of the Yadav community.

These remarks were part of Kishor’s political criticism of the ruling establishment.

‘Vote for change,’ Prashant Kishor tells teachers and graduates:

Kishor said the MLC elections should not be viewed through the prism of caste, religion or party affiliation.

He claimed that voters in Bankipur had demonstrated that political change was possible by looking beyond traditional identities and argued that teachers and graduates should similarly vote for change in Bihar.

Targeting the Samrat Choudhary government, Kishor said Jan Suraaj was seeking votes on issues such as better education, dignity for teachers and improved pay scales.

He also claimed that teachers and graduates were preparing to vote against the government.

For graduate voters, Kishor reiterated his promise to facilitate employment opportunities for educated unemployed youth if Jan Suraaj’s candidates are elected.

He has previously announced a target of 10,000 jobs for unemployed graduates in constituencies where his candidates win.

Prashant Kishor also took a swipe at the ruling camp over reports of differences among its leaders, asking where the alleged “stampede” was and saying that the real confusion was within the ruling party over who had switched sides and who had not.

The event was attended by Kishore Kumar Munna, Rambali Chandravanshi, Ashok, Syed Masih Uddin, Obaidur Rahman, Babban Yadav, Ravi Narayan, Dinesh Singh and several other Jan Suraaj supporters and leaders.
