Patna, September 9, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday felicitated 168 meritorious students who topped the 2026 Intermediate and Matriculation examinations at ‘Lok Sevak Awas,’ the official residence of the Chief Minister.
The toppers were presented with medals, certificates of appreciation, and cash awards, while Samrat Choudhary also interacted with them and extended his best wishes for their bright futures.
Following the ceremony, Samrat Choudhary shared details of the event on his X handle. He announced that, from next year, the felicitation ceremony for examination toppers would be organized within one month of the declaration of results to ensure recognition and encouragement.
“The resolve is for the youth of Bihar to become the new face of a developed Bihar and to become job creators rather than job seekers. Students securing the first, second, and third positions were awarded cash prizes of Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh, and Rs 1 lakh, respectively, along with funds for a laptop,” Samrat Choudhary said.
“Encouraging these talented individuals is not merely an act of honoring them; it is an investment in the bright future of Bihar,” he added.
Samrat Choudhary felicitated the Intermediate toppers:
In the Intermediate Science stream, first topper Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur and second toppers Sakshi Kumari from Sitamarhi and Sapna Kumari from Nawada were honored.
In the Arts stream, first topper Nishu Kumari from Gaya was felicitated along with second toppers Siddhi Shikha from Sitamarhi, Chandradeep Kumar from Lakhisarai, and Md. Lucky Ansari from Purnia.
In Commerce, first topper Aditi Kumari from Patna was honored, with her father receiving the award on her behalf as she was not present at the ceremony. Second topper Mahi Kumari, also from Patna, was felicitated.
Privanshu Rai from Saran, who topped the vocational course, was also honored. This marked the first time that a vocational course topper was included in the Bihar Board’s felicitation ceremony.
Anika Upadhyay from Saran, who secured second position in the category, was also felicitated.
Matriculation toppers:
Among the matriculation toppers, Pushpanjali Kumari of Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya in Jamui and Sabrin Parveen of Vaishali, who jointly secured the first position, were honored. Nahid Sultana from Begusarai, who secured the second position, was also felicitated.
A total of 15.12 lakh students registered for the 2026 Matriculation examination. Of these, 12,35,473 students passed, resulting in an overall success rate of 81.79%.
Female students constituted the majority of successful candidates. Pushpanjali Kumari and Sabrin Parveen emerged as joint state toppers after securing 492 out of 500 marks, or 98.4%. As many as 13 candidates featured among the top five, while 126 candidates secured ranks between sixth and 10th.
Girls dominate intermediate results:
The overall pass percentage in the 2026 Intermediate examinations across the Arts, Commerce and Science streams stood at 85.19%.
The success rate among female students was 86.23%, compared with 84.09% among male students.
Female students dominated the toppers’ list across the three streams, with girls securing the top positions in Arts and Commerce, while a male student topped the Science stream.
In all, 26 students featured among the toppers across the three Intermediate streams, including 19 female students and seven male students.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, BSEB Chairman Tyagarajan S. M., and other senior government officials. The toppers’ families were also present at the special felicitation program.
