Patna, April 3, 2024: The LJPR (Ram Vilas) led by Chirag Paswan suffered a major blow on Wednesday after 22 senior leaders, including former Lok Sabha MP and Party national vice president Renu Kushwaha and state organization secretary Engineer Ravindra Singh, resigned from the party’s primary membership.
Other leaders who quit include former MLA and national general secretary Satish Kumar, Ajay Kushwaha, Rajesh Dangi, Dr. Sudhir Prasad Yadav, Sanjay Lal, Chitranjan Kumar, Kalesh Kumar Yadav, Dopak Kumar, Abhinav Kumar, and several others.
Leaders alleged the LJPR chief of prioritizing money and nepotism:
The dissidents accused Chirag Paswan of selling party tickets and prioritizing money and family interest over loyal workers.
There is a buzz in Bihar that Chirag Paswan has sold the tickets of Vaishali, Samastipur and Khagaria.
‘Paisa first—Pariwar first’ is trending on social media. This issue was tarnishing the image of the party. I even wrote to Chirag Paswan seeking guidance, but he did not respond,” said Renu Kushwaha.
Echoing her sentiment, Ravindra Singh said, “We worked tirelessly to build the party and believed in Chirag Paswan’s vision. It is disheartening to see that only those with money can survive in LJPR now.”
LJPR leaders expressed disappointment over ticket distribution:
The leaders expressed disappointment over the ticket distribution, particularly the nomination of Veena Devi from Vaishali, whom they described as a “traitor” who once sided with Pashupati Kumar Paras during the 2021 party split.
Veena Devi had made objectionable remarks against Chirag Paswan and the late Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag once vowed never to give tickets to such people, yet he not only did so but also defended his decision publicly,” Singh said.
They also criticized Paswan for fielding Shambhavi Choudhary, daughter of Bihar minister Ashok Choudhary, from Samastipur, and his brother-in-law Arun Bharti from Jamui, alleging nepotism.
“Shambhavi Choudhary is not even a member of the LJPR, yet she was given a ticket. The same pattern was followed in Khagaria. This shows how the party has turned into a family enterprise,” Singh added.
The mass resignations come as a major embarrassment for Chirag Paswan ahead of the upcoming elections, especially as LJPR is contesting under the NDA alliance after securing five seats in the seat-sharing arrangement.
