Sushil Kumar Modi will not campaign in the Lok Sabha election 2024.

Patna, April 3, 2024:  Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday revealed that he has been battling cancer for the past six months and will not participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election campaign.

In a post on social media platform X, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar wrote, “I have been suffering from cancer for the last six months, and the time has come to reveal it publicly. I won’t be able to do anything for my party in the Lok Sabha election 2024. I have already informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about my disease. I am thankful and dedicated to my country, my state, Bihar, and my party.”

Sushil Kumar Modi, one of the most influential BJP leaders in Bihar, has played a key role in shaping the party’s organization in the state. Known for his strong coordination with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the duo was often referred to as the “Ram Lakshman” pair of Bihar politics.

Modi began his political career in 1990, winning the Patna Central Assembly seat (now Kumhrar), and was re-elected in 1995 and 2000. He entered Parliament after winning from the Bhagalpur Lok Sabha constituency in 2014.

Sushil Kumar Modi became Deputy CM in 2005:

He resigned from the Lok Sabha in 2005 to become Deputy Chief Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government, a position he retained after the alliance’s victory in 2010. Sushil Kumar Modi currently serves as a Rajya Sabha MP from the BJP.
