Chandigarh, April 10, 2026: Asim Kumar Ghosh, Governor of Haryana, on Friday inaugurated the two-day conference TiEcon Chandigarh 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Chandigarh, underscoring India’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem.

Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Asim Kumar Ghosh stated that India today stands as a global example of innovation-led growth, with over 1.20 lakh recognized startups generating more than 12 lakh jobs across the country.

Asim Kumar Ghosh calls for youth to become job creators:

Encouraging young minds, Ghosh urged the youth to shift their mindset from job seekers to job creators.

He emphasized the importance of innovation in achieving the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the vast potential of India’s middle-class market, he noted that emerging entrepreneurs can leverage modern technologies to address evolving consumer demands.

 He particularly pointed out the food technology sector as a promising area for innovation, given India’s abundant raw materials.

Haryana emerging as a startup hub:

Asim Kumar Ghosh expressed pride in Haryana’s growing contribution to the startup ecosystem, noting that the state now has over 7,000 recognized startups.

He praised the state government’s startup policy for being highly supportive of entrepreneurs.

He also highlighted Gurugram as a global hub for startups and technology, while describing Panchkula as an emerging centre for next-generation startups and IT investments due to its strategic location and infrastructure advantages.

TiE Chandigarh’s role in the innovation ecosystem:

Referring to TiE Chandigarh, Asim Kumar Ghosh described it as a vital pillar of North India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As part of the global TiE network spanning over 76 chapters in 23 countries, TiE Chandigarh has played a significant role in mentoring startups across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh.

 He noted that Initiatives such as TiE Women, TiE University, and TiE Young Entrepreneurs are actively nurturing talent and engaging hundreds of participants annually.

Large-scale participation at TiEcon 2026:

Asim Kumar Ghosh appreciated the efforts of TiEcon Chandigarh 2026, which brought together over 2,000 delegates, more than 50 investors, 80+ speakers, and over 50 startups.

He described the conference as a strong reflection of the vibrancy and growth of India’s startup ecosystem.

Emphasis on collaboration and innovation:

Concluding his address, Prof Ghosh stressed that achieving the goal of a developed India requires greater collaboration, innovation, and inclusivity within the entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Several distinguished personalities, including Lady Governor Mitra Ghosh and prominent members of the startup community, were also present at the event.
