Patna, January 14, 2026: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday attended a Makar Sankranti Dahi-Chura feast organized by former minister and JD(U) MLA Ratnesh Sada at his residence.
On the occasion, Ratnesh Sada felicitated the Chief Minister by presenting him with a shawl and a bouquet of flowers.
Nitish Kumar was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues during the event:
Several senior leaders of the Janata Dal (United) were present at the event, including JD(U) National Working President Sanjay Kumar Jha, water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, JD(U) State President Umesh Kushwaha, MLAs Shyam Rajak, Sheila Kumari, and Santosh Kumar Nirla, MLCs Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Gandhiji and Kumud Verma, JD(U) National General Secretary Manish Kumar Verma, and Patna Mayor Sita Sahu. A large number of party officials, workers, and other dignitaries also attended the gathering.
A day earlier, on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had attended another Dahi-Chura feast organized at the residence of Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and several other ministers of the state government were present at that event.
Makar Sankranti has religious and social importance:
In Bihar, Makar Sankranti is not merely a religious festival but also a symbol of social unity and cultural identity.
Consuming Dahi-Chura, Tilkut (sesame seed sweets), and other traditional delicacies is considered auspicious on this day.
Dahi-Chura holds a special place in Bihar’s culinary culture, reflecting values of simplicity, equality, and community, and is celebrated with equal enthusiasm by people across villages and cities.
