Patna, November 19, 2025: Following a strong performance in the Bihar Assembly elections, Nitish Kumar was unanimously elected as the JDU legislative party leader on Wednesday.

The party secured 85 seats, reaffirming its significant influence in the state.

Newly elected MLAs have chosen Nitish Kumar to lead the party as Bihar prepares for the new government.

Nitish Kumar will take the oath in Gandhi Maidan after 10 Years:

Nitish Kumar will take oath as Chief Minister on November 20, in a grand ceremony at Gandhi Maidan, Patna. This historic venue is hosting a swearing-in ceremony after a decade. Earlier, Nitish Kumar-led Mahagathbandhan government had taken oath in Gandhi Maidan in 2015.

Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan will administer the oath at 1.30 pm, followed by the swearing-in of cabinet ministers.

The ceremony will run from 1 pm to 2.30 pm, and the public will be allowed entry from 10 am.

Gandhi Maidan has been fully prepared for the event, with massive seating arrangements and an elaborate stage setup in place.

Top leaders to attend the event:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, several Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states are expected to attend the ceremony.

In view of the high-profile VVIP movement, extensive security arrangements have been implemented from Patna airport to Gandhi Maidan.

Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit and DGP Vinay Kumar reviewed the security preparations at Patna Airport on Tuesday.

They inspected arrival and departure zones, VVIP lounges, parking areas, and security barricades.

The DGP assured that zero security lapses would be tolerated along the entire route.

Gandhi Maidan holds a special place in Bihar’s political history.

Nitish Kumar first took oath here in 2005, followed by ceremonies in 2010 and 2015.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the 2020 swearing-in ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan instead of a public venue.

As preparations are in full swing, and top national leaders are set to attend, Bihar is poised for a grand political event as Nitish Kumar takes oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time.
