Patna, June 3, 2024: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set up 40 counting centres across 33 districts of Bihar for the Lok Sabha vote counting scheduled on June 4.
Polling for all 40 parliamentary seats in the state was conducted in seven phases. The counting will begin at 8 am, with initial trends expected to emerge by 10 am, an official said.
Security arrangements have been enhanced at the counting centres:
Strict security arrangements have been put in place at all centres.
Control Units, ECMs and VVPATs are stored in specially designed strong rooms guarded by three layers of security, comprising parliamentary forces and state police.
The strong rooms are under 24×7 CCYV surveillance, and senior officials are monitoring the arrangements closely.
To facilitate grievance redressal on the counting day, the ECI has issued two helpline numbers, 0612-2217601 and 0512-2217602, operational from 7 am on June 4.
No counting centres in four districts:
According to ECI officials, no centres have been set up in Sheohar, Saharsa, Sheikhpura, and Arwal districts.
In some locations, a single centre will manage counting for two constituencies.
In Patna, Anugrah Narayan College (AN College) has been designated as the centre for the Patliputra and Patna Sahib seats.
To ensure smooth movement around the venue, Patna Traffic Police will enforce strict restrictions.
Boring Road, where AN College is located, will remain closed to traffic from 5 am on June 4.
Movement will be restricted between Boring Road Chowk and the water tank area, with exceptions only for emergency services such as ambulances.
Commercial vehicles will also be barred from playing on Boring Canal Road, from Rajapur Bridge to Hartali Chowk.
Vehicles belonging to candidate representatives and media personnel will not be allowed on the restricted stretch.
Additionally, the centre for the Sasaram (SC) parliamentary seat has been set up in Kaimur, while the counting centre for Karakat has been set up in Sasaram.
