Patna, April 5, 2024: Mukesh Sahani-led Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) has officially joined the Grand Alliance in Bihar and will contest three Lok Sabha seats of Gopalganj, Jhanjharpur and Purvi Champaran.
The announcement was made in Patna on Friday in the presence of the leader of the opposition and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
Tejashwi Yadav, while welcoming Sahani into the alliance, said, “Today is an important day in the politics of Bihar. Mukesh Sahani has been a consistent voice for the Extremely Backward Caste (EBC) community and has long fought for their rights. We wholeheartedly welcome him into the Grand Alliance. This alliance is not just for the Lok Sabha election, but it will continue into the Assembly election as well.”
RJD has given three seats to VIP from its own quota:
He further explained the seat-sharing formula within the INDIA bloc, stating, “Congress will contest on 9 seats, the left parties on 5 seats and the RJD on 26 seats in Bihar. From our share, we have given 3 seats of Gopalganj, Jhanjharpur and Purvi Champaran to Mukesh Sahani’s VIP.”
Taking a swipe at the BJP, Yadav said, “Those claiming they will win 400 seats will face defeat in Bihar. The BJP’s symbol may be the phool (Lotus), but they have made fools of the people over the last 10 years.”
VIP chief expressed gratitude to Tejashwi Yadav:
Expressing gratitude, VIP chief Mukesh Sahani said, “I am thankful to my brother Tejashwi Yadav for including VIP in the Grand Alliance. We have always followed the path shown by Lalu Prasad Yadav, who fought for the poor and backward communities. The BJP broke my party, but now we are united under the INDIA bloc.
He added, “We are not only contesting three seats but will support all 40 INDIA bloc candidates across Bihar. The election will deliver surprising results. The BJP government promised 2 crore jobs and made several commitments, but failed to fulfil even one.”
Raising the issue of caste-based reservation, the VIP chief said, “The governments of Delhi and West Bengal have granted reservation to the Nishad community, but we remain deprived of it in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. We will continue to fight for our rightful representation.”
