Patna, October 2, 2025: On the occasion of Vijayadashami, symbolizing the victory of good over evil, the Dussehra Committee organized the traditional Ravana Vadh ceremony at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan on Thursday.

Effigies of an 80-foot Ravana, 75-foot Meghnath and 70-foot Kumbhkaran were set ablaze amid chants of Jai Shri Ram.

Rain disrupted the Vijayadashami celebration:

However, heavy rain and strong winds disrupted the event.

Despite being covered with polythene sheets, the effigies became soaked, making it difficult to ignite them.

At one point, Ravana’s head broke off and dangled due to the downpour.

Eventually, all three effigies were set on fire and burned with blazing flames, restoring the festive spirit among the crowd.

Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and many other leaders and senior bureaucrats were present during the celebrations.

Nitish Kumar extended greetings on Vijayadashami:

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended greetings to the people of Bihar on social media, writing, “Heartiest congratulations and best wishes on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami, celebrated as a festival of victory.
