Patna, September 12, 2025: Bihar Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary on Friday expressed satisfaction over Bihar’s economic performance after the National Statistics Organization (NSO) released its annual data on state-wise growth from 2024-25.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary said Bihar recorded the second-highest growth rate in the country after Tamil Nadu, and praised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership for driving development.
“Every Bihari will be proud that Bihar’s progress rate in 2024-25 is better than all states except Tamil Nadu. Economic activities have accelerated here, and per capita income has increased from about Rs 68,690 in 2023-24 to over Rs 76,000 in 2024-25,” he said.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary claimed industries are flourishing in Bihar:
Highlighting a significant economic shift, Choudhary said for the first time in Bihar’s history, the industrial sector has overtaken agriculture in size.
“Bihar has always been agriculture-dominated, but now the industrial sector has grown larger. This is a historic change,” he noted.
On Tejashwi Yadav’s criticism of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, “He now seems to understand its importance. Earlier, they opposed it, but after travelling across Bihar and getting no response, they have started cooperating. This is a positive sign.”
On Tejashwi Yadav’s allegation of crime from a Deputy CM residence, Choudhary said, “Investigation decides from where the crime originates. Our government never suppresses facts. Incidents are probed diligently, real criminals are caught and punished.”
Opposition forms distribution is a fraud, says minister:
On the Maa-Behan Maan Yojana forms being distributed by opposition workers, Choudhary said, “Only government offices issue genuine scheme forms. If party workers are doing it, it’s fraud.
Vijay Kumar Choudhary also remarked on internal party activity during the election season.
“As assembly polls approach, workers naturally aspire to become candidates or hold posts. It happens at every party, every election. But in our party, preference will always go to the workers.”
While assembly polls are nearing, the Nitish Kumar government is banking on Bihar’s improved growth data and rising per capita income to counter the opposition’s narrative of governance failures.
