Patna, November 26, 2025: The Upendra Kushwaha-led Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) suffered a significant setback on Wednesday after half a dozen senior leaders, including National Vice President Jitendra Nath, tendered their resignations.
Along with Nath, those who stepped down include State General Secretary and Spokesperson Rahul Kumar, Rajesh Ranjan, Pramod Kumar, and several other prominent leaders.
Jitendra Nath claimed working together in RLM is no longer possible:
In his resignation letter addressed to party president Upendra Kushwaha, Jitendra Nath wrote, I have been working with you for almost nine years, but now I am unable to associate myself with many political and organizational decisions. In such a situation, working together is no longer possible. Therefore, it is appropriate to resign from my responsibilities and primary membership of the party.”
The party leaders accused the Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha of ignoring the party’s interests during seat-sharing in the Bihar Assembly elections.
They further alleged nepotism, claiming that Kushwaha side-lined deserving leaders to promote his son.
“Despite Kushwaha’s wife, Snehlata Kushwaha, winning from Sasaram, she was not given a ministerial post, while his son, who neither won the election nor is an MLC, was made a cabinet minister.
Upendra Kushwaha’s son Deepak Prakash is holding an important Panchayati Raj Ministry in the Nitish Kumar government.
Party insiders said leaders were deeply dissatisfied with Kushwaha’s recent clarification on the appointment of his son, which they found unconvincing.
State General Secretary also hits out at leadership:
RLM State General Secretary Rahul Kumar echoed similar concerns in his resignation letter.
He said he was uncomfortable with several decisions taken by the party and found them unacceptable.
Sources indicate that many of the resigning leaders were also upset over the neglect they faced during the assembly elections, adding to the growing internal rift.
Just a day before the wave of resignations, the Sheikhpura District Committee was abruptly dissolved by state president Madan Choudhary.
This sudden move is believed to have triggered further discontent among party workers.
The RLM had contested the Bihar Assembly elections in alliance with the NDA. Out of six seats contested, the party managed to win four.
The internal party turmoil, however, signals deepening fissures in the party’s organizational structure at a critical time.
