Patna, April 28, 2024: Two personnel were lost their lives and more than a dozen others were injured when a speeding container truck rammed a parked police bus in Bihar’s Gopalganj district on Sunday morning.

The two constables, who lost their lives in the tragic accident, have been identified as Pawan Mahto and Ashok Uraon, both constables from the Gopalganj police line.
Officials said the victims were on their way to Supaul for election duty when the accident occurred near Barhima Mor under Sidhwalia police station limits. According to police, the bus carrying around 45 constables has halted near a roadside eatery for breakfast.
While most officers had stepped out for refreshments, a container truck traveling at high speed lost control and crashed into the stationary bus.
“Two constables died on the spot, while over 12 others sustained injuries. Six of them are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment,” said a police officer.
FIR registered:
An FIR has been registered against the truck driver under relevant IPC sections for rash and negligent driving, and the container truck has been seized.
