Patna, July 15, 2025: The Nitish Kumar cabinet, on Tuesday, has approved 30 proposals from various departments, including a landmark plan to provide one crore jobs and employment opportunities in Bihar over the next five years.

The cabinet meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, was chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and attended by ministers from all departments.

Nitish Kumar has taken the decisions to lure voters ahead of Bihar polls:

Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the Bihar government had announced its commitment to generate one crore jobs and employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

With the cabinet’s approval of the Labour Resources Department’s proposal, the government has taken a formal step toward implementing this promise.

The decision comes at a crucial time, as the opposition had planned to make unemployment a key issue in the elections.

The approval of this employment plan is being seen as a major political move by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to counter the opposition and strengthen voter confidence ahead of the polls. According to the government, the target will be achieved through various initiatives, including new job creation, skill development, and entrepreneurship support, over the next five years.

A high-level committee was also approved to look after the one crore job promise:

Additionally, the cabinet approved the formation of a high-level committee under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner to explore all possible avenues for job and employment creation and to advise the government on effective implementation.

Officials stated that the government will begin work on the detailed roadmap immediately, with specific targets likely to be assigned to departments to align with the employment generation mission.
