The FASTag annual toll pass of Rs 3000 kicks off from Independence Day.

Patna, July 27, 2025: The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has rolled out a FASTag-based annual toll pass worth Rs 3000, effective from August 15, 2025, to benefit millions of frequent highway commuters across the country, including in Bihar.
This scheme, aimed at reducing toll expenses and easing congestion, was first announced by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last month and is now set for nationwide implementation.
Benefits of Rs 3000 FASTag toll pass:
The FASTag toll pass is applicable only for non-commercial cars, jeeps, SUVs and vans. It allows 200 toll-free trips annually on NHAI-operated toll plazas on National Highways and expressways. It is valid for one year or 200 trips, whichever comes first. FASTag Pass will be activated within 24 hours of payment, and recharge starts from August 4, 2025, via the Highway Yatra app or the NHAI website. It is a non-transferable and is linked to the vehicle’s registration number and FASTag ID.
Big boost for Bihar commuters:
There are 33 NHAI toll plazas in Bihar, where this pass will be applicable.
With an average toll rate between Rs 80 to Rs 150 per trip, the annual pass will bring significant savings of Rs 5000-Rs 7000 for frequent travellers.

Additionally, this move will help reduce fuel wastage, waiting times and disputes at toll plazas.
The government expects the scheme to also address issues faced at toll plazas within a 60-kilometer-radius, a long-standing concern for daily commuters in many regions.
The authority has urged vehicle owners to use only official platforms and be alert against fake calls, messages, or websites.
A recent review meeting finalized the technical and implementation aspects to ensure a smooth rollout of the scheme.
This initiative is being seen as a major reform in highway travel that aims to make toll collection more affordable, transparent, and efficient, especially in high-traffic states like Bihar.
