New Delhi, April 30, 2024: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday unveiled Team India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, naming Rohit Sharma as captain and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. The decision followed a high-level meeting of the selection committee chaired by chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
The BCCI selected Rohit Sharma as captain to lead the team:
BCCI has selected as Rohit Sharma to lead the team and his deputy is Hardik Pandya.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Sanju Samson, and Shivam Dube have been selected as batters and wicketkeepers.
As all-rounders, BCCI selected Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel, while Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzuvendra Chahal will take the responsibility of spin department.
Arshdeep Singh, Mohammad Siraj, and Jasprit Bumrah are selected as pace bowlers in this team.
Reserves players:
Subham Gill, Khleel Ahmad, Rinku Singh, Avesh khan will be the reserved players.
The squad balances experience and youth, with Virat Kihli and Rohit Sharma providing seasoned leadership alongside dynamic performers like Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant.
The bowling attack features a potent mix a pace and spin, spearheaded by Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep, and Chahal.
The tournament is expected to kick off in June 2024 in the West Indies and USA.
