Patna, May 31, 2024: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Friday lashed out at the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government in Bihar, accusing it of being “bent on taking the lives of teachers” amid the severe heat wave sweeping across the state.

Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar over the heat wave:

His statement came after over 90 people reportedly died due to heat strokes in several districts over the past three days.

Tejashwi Yadav alleged education department is insensitive:

Despite the alarming situation, the Education Department directed teachers to attend schools even though classes were suspended following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s order a day earlier.

The decision to close schools came after more than 100 students fainted due to extreme heat on Monday.

In a post on X, Tejashwi wrote, “The Chief Minister and his cabinet members are resting in AC rooms and are bent on taking the lives of teachers. What will teachers do without students? Schools were closed under pressure from the opposition, yet teachers have been ordered to attend in this deadly heat. Teachers must also be given leave.”

He further questioned the state’s approach, calling the government’s decision “inhuman.”

“Why is the NDA government making such cruel decisions against teachers while the entire cabinet enjoys air-conditioned comfort?” he added.

Bihar has been reeling under intense heatwave conditions for the past three days.

Following reports of students collapsing, the government ordered the closure of all government and private schools till June 8. However, the Education Department’s directive mandates that teachers continue to report to school at the scheduled time.
