Patna, January 11, 2026: Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav returned to Patna on Sunday and launched a sharp attack on the NDA and the Election Commission, alleging that the 2025 Bihar Assembly election was won by machinery, not the people.

Addressing media persons at Patna Airport, Tejashwi Yadav said, “In the last election, the people lost and the machinery won. The NDA and the Election Commission together turned Loktantra into Dhantantra and Machinetantra. We know what kind of conspiracy they hatched. They won the election through deception and trickery.”

Will give government 100 days, says Tejashwi Yadav:

Tejashwi Yadav said that despite knowing how the new government was formed, his party would continue with positive politics.

The people of Bihar and the entire country know how this government was formed. Even then, we will do positive politics. I will not comment on the policies and decisions of this government for the next 100 days,” he said.

Challenging the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government to deliver on its promises, Tejashwi Yadav added, “Let us see when our mothers and sisters will get Rs 2 lakh in their bank accounts, when one crore jobs will be given to the youth of Bihar, and when four to five industries will be set up in every district. It is the responsibility of the government to fulfil the promises mentioned in its joint manifesto.”

Faces criticism over absence:

Tejashwi Yadav had left Bihar in the middle of the first Assembly session of the newly formed government.

He reportedly visited Europe and later returned to New Delhi.

His absence from Bihar drew sharp criticism from NDA leaders.

However, with his return and direct challenge to the Nitish Kumar government to perform on ground, the pressure has now shifted back to the ruling alliance to deliver on its electoral commitments.

In the Bihar Assembly elections 2025, the RJD suffered a major setback willing only 25 seats. Other opposition parties, including Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPIM and IIP, also performed poorly.

The combined strength of opposition parties in the Bihar Assembly currently stands at just 35 seats, significantly weakening their numerical presence.
