Tejashwi Yadav promised a scheme to provide Rs. 2500 per month to uplift women in Bihar.

Patna December 14, 2024: Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly and a key figure in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has announced an ambitious welfare scheme, the “Mai-Behan Maan Yojana,” aimed at uplifting women in the state.

“Under this scheme, if the Grand Alliance government would come to Bihar, we will provide Rs. 2,500 per month directly to the accounts of women. It would help address issues like inflation, poverty, and lack of access to healthcare and basic necessities,” Yadav said.

Tejashwi Yadav focused on women’s empowerment:

Tejashwi Yadav emphasized that women’s economic empowerment is central to the development of households, villages, and ultimately the state. He reiterated that the prosperity of women is directly linked to community progress.

“It will alleviate the struggles faced by poor women due to inflation, such as inadequate food, clothing, and healthcare. Women could start small businesses or invest in skill training, fostering long-term economic opportunities. It will also ensure financial autonomy and reduce poverty among marginalized citizens,” Yadav said.

After the formation of the Grand Alliance government,  assure people that the scheme would be rolled out within a month,” Yadav said.

A Strategic Political Move of Tejashwi Yadav:

The announcement comes ahead of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Mahila Samvad Yatra, positioning the scheme as a counterpoint to the incumbent government’s outreach efforts.

Tejashwi Yadav criticized the current administration, accusing it of arrogance and inefficiency while highlighting the massive expenditure on Nitish Kumar’s travels of Rs.2.25 billion for the yatra.

The proposed scheme of Tejashwi Yadav mirrors the “Maiya Samman Yojana” in Jharkhand, which played a significant role in the INDIA bloc’s recent electoral success.

Tejashwi Yadav positioned the plan as part of his vision for a reconstructed Bihar (Navnirman), where women’s prosperity forms the foundation for holistic development.

Tejashwi explained the multiplier effect of empowering women through direct cash transfers will empower household nutrition, better access to healthcare and education for children and enhanced family and community well-being.

“Investing in women would lead to greater gender equality and unlock the economic potential of marginalized citizens,” Yadav said.

Drawing on his past performance during a 17-month tenure as Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav sought to treasure voters of his dedication to fulfilling promises. He portrayed the Grand Alliance government as a government for the mothers and sisters of Bihar.

Tejaswi Yadav’s announcement underscores a strategic emphasis on women’s issues as a key electoral plank. The “Mai-Behan Maan Yojana” not only aims to address pressing socio-economic challenges but also serves as a direct appeal to women voters, highlighting their central role in Bihar’s progress.
