Patna, July 23, 2025: Following the chaos in the Bihar Assembly, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha over the Special Intensive Revision(SIR) of the voter list.
Tejashwi Yadav alleged they did not allow the Leader of Opposition to speak:
Tejashwi Yadav stated that while he was presenting his concerns on the timing and execution of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, senior leaders of the ruling party, including the Deputy CM, made indecent remarks during his address.
“During my address, the Deputy CM commented, ‘he will only speak, how much will he speak?’ This is extremely indecent and against the dignity of the house,” Yadav said.
Tejashwi Yadav added that if the Leader of Opposition is not allowed to speak inside the house, democracy is under threat.
He accused the ruling party of deliberately disrupting proceedings to avoid discussions on critical issues and lowering the dignity of the Assembly.
He highlighted that even the Speaker had to reprimand the Deputy CM and a minister during the session, reflecting the seriousness of the situation.
On the voter list revision, Tejashwi Yadav pointed out discrepancies in the claims of the ruling party.
“In the affidavit submitted by the Election Commission in the Supreme Court, there is no mention of foreign citizens. Yet, the ruling party is misleading the public by claiming that fake voters are from Nepal and Bangladesh,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar:
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi said: “When I was speaking in the Assembly, the CM stood up and started speaking in the middle. Perhaps he did not even know what the discussion was about. We sympathize with his situation.”
He alleged that Nitish Kumar is now disconnected from the ground realities, and the government is being run via remote control from Delhi.
Tejashwi further stated: “Earlier, voters used to choose the government, but now the government is choosing its voters.”
He accused the ruling party of running away from debate whenever the opposition brings evidence to the table and instead creating a ruckus to avoid accountability.
