Tejashwi Yadav hits back at BJP’s ‘Namazwadi’ jibes, criticized ECI over voters list drive.

Patna, July 01, 2025: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has sharply responded to BJP leaders calling him “Namazwadi” and “Maulana” following his rally against the Waqf act in Patna, claiming the BJP is rattled by the ground support he is receiving.

Speaking to the media in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav said: “The way people supported us during the rally against the Waqf Act has unsettled the BJP leaders sitting in Delhi and their Sangh people.

They won’t talk about real issues but only indulge in useless talk. These people have nothing to do with the Constitution and are working to divide the country.”

He further alleged: “They have spread so much hatred that it is unclear how long it will take to end it.”

Tejashwi Yadav targets Nitish Kumar:

Tejashwi Yadav also expressed concern over Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s condition.

Nitish Kumar is in an unconscious state and is no longer able to handle Bihar. He should leave power now,” Yadav said.

Questions ECI’s voter list revision:

Tejashwi Yadav criticized the Election Commission of India’s voter list revision drive in Bihar, alleging it is being carried out at the behest of PM Modi and CM Nitish Kumar.

“They know the ground status in Bihar and fear losing. I suspect they have already tampered with the voter list, and this revision drive is just an eyewash. Revising the voter list in just 25 days before the election is impossible,” Yadav said.

He added: “We are alert to every move of the ECI, JDU, and BJP. We are conscious people, while they are unconscious. We are keeping a close watch on them.”

Tejashwi’s remarks come two days after he led a massive rally in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, opposing the Waqf Act, which drew significant support from various sections, especially from the Muslim community.

BJP leaders subsequently labeled Tejashwi as “Namazwadi” and  “Maulana,” claiming he was politicizing the issue for vote bank politics.

The voter list revision by the ECI in Bihar within a 25-day window before the 2025 Assembly elections has become a flashpoint, with the opposition alleging attempts to exclude marginalized voters.
