Patna, October 2, 2025: Former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday targeted Bihar’s double-engine government over the caste survey and alleged betrayal of reservation rights for marginalized communities.
In a social media post on the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, Yadav recalled the historic day of October 2, 2023, when, as Deputy Chief Minister, he released Bihar’s caste survey report.
“Let us recall that historic day when I fulfilled my decade-old pledge to conduct a caste survey in Bihar and released the report. By publishing it on that special day, we declared that the entire country now demands a caste census and we will not allow any further delay,” he wrote.
Tejashwi Yadav claimed the Centre announced the caste census on the opposition:
Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the NDA government had been forced into announcing a nationwide caste census due to political and social pressure.
Our struggle brought this stubborn government to its knees. We applied pressure on those within the BJP and RSS who criticized the caste census and issued statements against it. However, their intentions and implementation remain questionable,” Yadav said.
Tejashwi alleged the BJP is an anti-reservation party:
Taking aim at the BJP, Yadav alleged, “The anti-Dalit, backward, and anti-reservation BJP has snatched the rights of Dalits, backward, extremely backward and tribal communities by not including the 65% reservation, which was increased as per our report, in the 9th schedule of the Constitution. The double-engine government has snatched the rights of these communities. This anti-reservation move is causing millions of jobs to be lost.”
Reiterating his commitment, Tejashwi Yadav said, “My fight for the backward, deprived, Dalits, exploited and poor will continue until a proportionate share of the population is ensured. Until the scope of reservation does not exceed the 50% limit and these communities achieve real educational, economic and social justice, my struggle will go on. I seek the support of the people for economic justice.”
