Tejashwi Yadav criticized Nitish Kumar after a lathi charge on protestors.
Patna, August 21: Tejashwi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar slammed the Nitish Kumar government following the Patna police conducted a lathi charge on protestors during the Bharat Bandh on Wednesday.
While sharing a video of the incident, Tejashwi Yadav said the Patna police initiated the lathi charge following the direction of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
“The police initiated the lathi charge on Dalit and marginalized people under the direction of Nitish Kumar, but he has given criminals free rein to commit crimes. I have not seen the Bihar police initiate the lathi charge on criminals,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
During the Bharat Bandh, a significant number of protestors from the Bhim Army gathered at Dak Bungalow Chowk in Patna to express their dissent against the Supreme Court’s ruling on quota within quota in the SC and ST categories.
Given the size of the crowd, the Patna police restored a lathi charge in an effort to disperse the protestors. This action by the police has drawn criticism from opposition leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, who have condemned the government’s handling of the situation.
