Tejashwi Yadav criticized Mohan Bhagwat who said India had achieved real independence in 2024.

Patna January 15, 2025: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat for his recent remark claiming that India attained “real independence” in 2024 with the installation of Ramlal’s idol in the Ram temple has sparked a significant political controversy.

The statement has drawn sharp criticism, particularly from the opposition leaders.

Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack, saying, “RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has essentially said that ‘reservation for Dalits and backward classes will end, only then the country had achieved the real independence in 2024, the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has grossly insulted crores of freedom fighters, patriots, and countless martyrs who fought for India’s independence in 1947.”

Tejashwi Yadav accused RSS of trying to re-write history:

Yadav accused the RSS of trying to rewrite history to diminish the contributions of others. “The people of the Sangh had no role in the freedom struggle. Now, they are hatching conspiracies to erase the contributions of freedom fighters. Their organization served as brokers and informers for the British. The RSS has always sought to undermine the historical contributions of Dalits, backward classes, laborers, and farmers,” he wrote.

The opposition leader also criticized the RSS for its lack of representation of marginalized communities and women in leadership roles. “The leaders of the 100-year-old organization RSS, which has a history of hating Dalits and backward classes, should explain why no Dalit or backward-class individuals have ever been made the head of the RSS, Why has no woman ever become the RSS chief?” Yadav questioned.

Tejashwi Yadav asked the RSS chief to pay attention to India’s economy:

He called on Bhagwat to address pressing issues such as the caste census, increasing reservation for Dalits and backward classes in proportion to their population, and the nation’s economic struggles. “The country is heading towards slavery because the rupee is at an all-time low against the dollar. Mohan Bhagwat should pay attention to that,” he remarked.

Tejashwi Yadav concluded by challenging the RSS chief to clarify when the majority of Dalits and backward classes would experience “real freedom.” His remarks add fuel to an already heated political debate with opposition parties uniting to counter what they view as the RSS’s ideological agenda. The controversy highlights deepening divisions over the interpretation of India’s history, constitutional values, and the ongoing fight for social justice.
