Tejashwi Yadav asked why the Aadhar Card is not valid in voter list verification.

Patna, July 7, 2025: Leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, on Monday raised serious questions over the functioning of the Election Commission regarding the ongoing voter list verification process in the state.
Addressing the media persons in Patna, Tejashwi Yadav questioned why Aadhaar cards are not being accepted for voter list verification despite being valid for issuing new voter ID cards.
“We met the Election Commission on July 5 and shared our concerns, but we have not received any clarity. The Election Commission in Bihar is acting like a post office without the authority to respond,” Tejashwi said.
Tejashwi Yadav alleged ECI is confused:
He alleged that the Election Commission is in a “confused state,” pointing out that it has issued contradictory orders regarding the verification process.
“The advertisements say one thing while the official orders say another. For example, advertisements claim that forms can be submitted even without documents, but the official orders contradict this,” he said.

Tejashwi Yadav demanded point-wise answers from the Election Commission to address public concerns and ensure transparency in the voter list revision process.
“If Aadhaar cards are valid for creating new voter IDs, why are they not being accepted for verification during the revision process?” he asked, while also seeking clarity on who is conducting the revision process—whether government employees or private agencies—and demanded that the Commission make the list of personnel public.
Congress also criticized ECI over voter list verification:
Meanwhile, Congress, a key alliance partner, also targeted the Election Commission, alleging that it is unclear about its own instructions and is functioning in a confusing.
The Congress announced a statewide Chakka Jam across Bihar on July 9 in protest against the voter list revision process.
Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to join the protest, adding momentum to the opposition’s movement against the ongoing exercise ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
