Tejashwi Yadav announced to fight from the street to parliament on quota.
Patna, August 3: Tejashwi Yadav, the ace leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal has been vowing to fight for the reservation from the street to parliament.
The statement of Tejashwi Yadav came a day after he announced going to the Supreme Court to challenge quota within quota decision and creamy layer.
For the last two days, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has been continuously raising this issue. On Saturday, he targeted the double-engine government of Bihar on the social media platform X, accusing BJP is behind this matter.
“The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has fought hard for decades from the streets to the parliament to get the caste census done for the welfare of the deprived and neglected sections. When the Grand Alliance government was formed in Bihar, it managed to conduct and publish the caste-based survey within 17 months, a first in independent India.
“Based on the reports of the caste survey, the reservation limit for all sections in Bihar was increased to 75% in November 2023. In December 2023, during the meeting of the Eastern Regional Council, the Union Home Minister Amit Shah was requested to include it in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution, but the anti-reservation BJP and NDA government refused it,” Tejashwi Yadav said.
He further demanded that the central government put Bihar’s reservation in the 9th Schedule, conduct a caste census and grant Bihar special state status. He said that none of the three demands have been met so far.
Tejashwi Yadav also attacks Nitish Kumar and JD (U) for just enjoying power but not doing anything on the reservation.
The political experts believe that Tejashwi Yadav is targeting both Bihar and the central government on the issue of reservation, to take political advantage in the forthcoming Bihar assembly elections.
On July 29, the Supreme Court refused to put a stay on the decision of the Patna High Court on 65% reservation. On August 1, the Supreme Court recognized the sub-category for the Scheduled Caste-Tribe category. With this, the state governments will give quota to the most backward and needy people of the society from the existing reservation.

Meanwhile, Neeraj Kumar Bablu, the PHED minister under the BJP quota in Bihar government said that Tejashwi Yadav has become jobless and hence making statements like this.
“Tejashwi Yadav does not have any work and hence, he is making unnecessary statements to mislead the people. When he was in power, his party leaders were busy robbing the treasury. Now, he became jobless and hence making statements like this,” Bablu said.
