Tejashwi Yadav accuses the NDA government of copying his welfare initiatives ahead of the 2025 polls.

Patna, July 30, 2025: In a sharp political attack, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, accused the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government of copying the welfare schemes initiated during his brief tenure as Health Minister.
The remark of Tejashwi Yadav came shortly after the Chief Minister announced a hike in the incentive for ASHA and Mamta workers across Bihar.
Taking to the social media platform X Tejashwi Yadav alleged that the recent decision was long overdue and originally conceived under his leadership.
“When I was the Health Minister for 17 months, I started the process of increasing the incentive amount for ASHA and Mamta workers. It was in the final stage, but as usual, the CM backtracked. They kept it pending for two years. Now, under pressure, they have had to bow down to our demand,” he wrote.
Tejashwi Yadav further criticized the NDA government for not going far enough, arguing that the workers deserve fixed honorarium rather than variable incentives.
This government, being cunning, did not fully implement our initiative. They should not get just incentives—we will give them proper honorariums,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav is broadening the attack:
Tejashwi Yadav warned that the ruling government would soon concede to his initiatives of increasing honorariums for Anganwadi workers, helpers and Mid-day meal cooks as well.

He also highlighted several welfare measures undertaken during the 17-month RJD-led tenure, including increased payments for Vikas Mitra, Shiksha Mitras, Tola Sevaks, Tamili Markaz workers, and Panchayati Raj representatives.
In a blistering remark, Tejashwi Yadav took a personal jibe at the CM and the administration.
“Looking at our demands and announcements, it’s good to see fear in this copycat, tired, blind and visionless government. Were they peeling peanuts for the last 20 years? Those who once mocked our announcements are now running scared.”
CM Nitish Kumar’s announcement:

Earlier in the day, CM Nitish Kumar had announced that ASHA workers would now receive a monthly incentive of Rs 3000, up from Rs 1000, and Mamta workers would be given Rs 600 per delivery, instead of the previous Rs 300—a move that has been welcomed by health workers across the state.
