Patna, August 5, 2025: In a significant political move ahead of the Bihar Assembly election, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, announced the formation of a new alliance with five regional parties on Tuesday.

The announcement was made during the press conference at the Maurya Hotel in Patna.

The alliance includes the Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuria Jan Morcha (BJM), Pragatisheel Janata Party (PJB), Wajib Adhikar Party (WAP) and the Samyukta Kisan Vikas Party (SKVP).

Tej Pratap Yadav claimed social justice and complete change are his alliance’s motto:

Tej Pratap emphasized the alliance’s core principles of social justice, social rights and complete change.

He said, “Our objective is clear—we will work for the holistic development of Bihar and fulfil the dreams of leaders like Ram Manohar Lohia, Karpoori Thakur and Jay Prakash Narayan. If the people support us, we promise transformative governance.”

He further added, “We are grateful to all the comrades who joined us today. This is the beginning of a new inning.”

Taking a direct dig at the ruling parties, Tej Pratap Yadav clarified, “If RJD wants to join this alliance, they are welcome. But we will never align with JDU or BJP. We are socialists and we will never form ties with such parties.”

The event also saw sparks fly over internal tensions in the RJD. When asked about RJD state president Mangani Lal Mandal’s comment that Tej Pratap has no existence in the party, Tej Pratap responded sharply, Mandal should pick the Kamandal and head to Banaras (Varanasi) or Vrindavan. We’ll send him to our Guru Ji’s ashram.”

Tej Pratap reiterated to contest the poll from Mahua:

Declaring his intent to contest the upcoming election from Mahua as an independent candidate, he said, “We are getting immense support from the people. This is a new beginning. We will move forward with all communities—especially Yadavs and Muslims.”

Tej Pratap dismissed Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), led by Mukesh Sahani, as a disguised party, claiming that the real Nishad party is with us.”

When asked if his brother and leader of the opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, would also contest from Mahua, he confidently replied, Tejashwi will never contest from Mahua. I have always blessed him to move ahead. I have no greed for the Chief Minister’s post.”
