Tej Pratap Yadav believes in simple living, high thinking, and skips the black dress protest.

Patna, July 22, 2025: While the entire opposition, including Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi, arrived in black attire as a mark of protest against the voter list revision, Tej Pratap Yadav, the former environment, forest and climate change minister of Bihar, arrived in his trademark white Khadi Kurta-Pyjama.

After making his attendance, Tej Pratap spoke briefly to the reporters before leaving for his residence.

When asked why he did not join the opposition’s black dress protest, Tej Pratap replied, “We have not come today in black dress. We have been living like this since the beginning. Simple living, high thinking.”

He added humorously, “We wear black kurta on Saturday. Saturn is on me, right… That’s why I wear black only on Saturday.”

Tej Pratap claimed his voice is loud enough inside and outside the Bihar Assembly:

On being asked why he marked his attendance but did not sit inside the House during the proceedings, Tej Pratap responded, “I am coming to the House, marking my attendance, and my voice is getting louder like this, whether I am inside or outside.”

When asked about the seat from which he would contest the upcoming elections, he replied, “This will be told later.”

On whether he was part of the opposition’s protest, Tej Pratap said, “The protest is going on, and we are involved in it.”

On Nitish Kumar:

When questioned about BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur’s demand for Nitish Kumar to be made the Vice President, he said, “What he should become or not, only those people will know.”

Regarding the opposition’s protests over voter list revision, Tej Pratap remarked, “The government is not addressing the issues like SIR, hence the uproar.”

The second day of the monsoon session saw a protest by opposition leaders in black attire, accusing the government of attempting to suppress voters under the guise of SIR.
