Sushil Kumar Modi will not campaign in the Lok Sabha election 2024.

Patna: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday claimed he will not campaign for the party in the general election campaign in 2024. The BJP leader said that he is suffering from cancer.

“I have been suffering from cancer for the last 6 months and time has come to reveal it publically. I won’t be able to do anything for my party in the Lok Sabha election 2024. I have already informed PM Narendra Modi about my disease. I am thankful and dedicated to my country, my state Bihar and my party,” Modi said while uploading a post on the social networking platform X on Wednesday.

Sushil Kumar Modi is one of the strong leaders of BJP in Bihar. He was the most vocal person of the party during the Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi government in Bihar. He has made a great contribution to build BJP in Bihar. He has a great understanding with CM Nitish Kumar in Bihar. The combination of Nitish Kumar and Sushil Kumar Modi was considered as a pair of Ram and Laxman in Bihar.

Sushil Modi joined the active politics in 1990 and won the seat from Patna central assembly seat (Now Kumhrar). He was re-elected in 1995 and 2000. He won the Lok Sabha seat from Bhagalpur in 2014.

In 2005, NDA came into power in Bihar and Sushil Modi resigned from the Lok Sabha. He became the deputy chief minister of Bihar in the Nitish Kumar government. When NDA again won the assembly election in Bihar in 2010, he retained his post of the deputy chief minister of Bihar. He is currently a Rajya Sabha MP of BJP.
