Sonpur division conducted a “Laal Gaadi” special ticket checking drive and collected over Rs. 88, 000 in fines.

Patna, May 15, 2025: In a continued effort to curb ticketless travel and enhance passenger compliance, the Sonpur Division of Indian Railways conducted a “Laal Gaadi” special ticket-checking campaign on May 14, 2025, between Muzaffarpur and Bachhwara railway sections.

The intensive drive was carried out from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM as part of ongoing enforcement initiatives.

A team of the Sonpur Division conducted the ticket-checking operation:

A total of 18 Ticket Checking Staff, 10 RPF personnel, and officers including the Commercial Officer and Commercial inspector were deployed across Major and minor stations along the route.

Passengers’ tickets were thoroughly inspected during the 12-hour operation.

As a result of the campaign, 135 cases of ticketless or irregular travel were recorded and total revenue of Rs. 88, 765 was collected in penalties.

Officials noted that the campaign played a dual role: generating revenue for the railways and raising awareness among passengers about the importance of traveling with valid tickets.

Senior officials of Sonpur division are also on the ground to create awareness:

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Roshan Kumar himself led a surprise ticket-checking operation aboard Train No. 12553 (Vaishali Express) on Thursday, reinforcing the commitment to regular inspections. Kumar expressed satisfaction with the campaign’s outcomes and stated, “Such drives will continue across Sonpur Division through “Laal Gaadi” surprise checks, and intensive campaigns to deter ticketless travel. We aim to create a culture of accountability and ensure that all passengers travel lawfully.”

The Railway Administration once again appealed to all passengers to purchase valid ticketless before beginning their journey and to follow all railway rules.

Ensuring compliance contributes to the convenience and safety of all travelers.
