Six died, five injured in a road accident in Patna.

Patna July 16: In a tragic accident, six persons died and five injured after a speeding Scorpio SUV crashed with a parked HIWA truck in Patna’s Bakhtiyarpur area on Tuesday morning.

The Incident occurred on the Nawada-Bakhtiyarpur four-lane highway around 2.30 am.

Abhishek Singh, the SDPO Barh confirms the accident. He said that the 11 persons were boarded in the Scorpio which was coming from Nawada.

“As we learned from the nearby fuel station, the HIWA was parked and speeding Scorpio crashed it from behind,” Singh said.

Four persons died on the spot while one succumbed at a hospital in Bakhtiyarpur and another at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The remaining five persons are admitted to PMCH and their conditions are said to be critical.

“We are scanning the CCTV cameras and taking the statements of the fuel station’s employees to know the exact cause of the accident. The law and order is normal in the area,” Singh said.

The deceased are identified as Neeraj Kumar (25), Parwati Devi, Rishu Kumari (5), Bhagtini (60), Nirmala Devi and Kamla Devi. The injured persons are identified as Indu Devi, Neetu Kumari, Kaushal Kumar, Kitu Kumar and Meena Devi. All of them are residents of Nawada.
