Patna, December 16, 2025: Sarthak Ranjan, son of Purnea Member of Parliament Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav, earned a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
He was picked by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the IPL auction held at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Sharthak entered the auction with a base price of Rs 30 lakh, and KKR successfully secured him, turning his long-cherished dream of playing in the IPL into reality.
Sarthak Ranjan represents Delhi in the Ranji Trophy:
An opening batsman, Sarthak Ranjan, represents Delhi in domestic cricket and has been playing in the Ranji Trophy.
Over the past few years, he has impressed selectors and cricket experts with his consistent performance and aggressive batting style.
In the Delhi Premier League, Sarthak scored 448 runs in nine innings.
Playing for the North Delhi Strikers in the Delhi Premier League 2025, he grabbed headlines by smashing a century in just 58 balls, an innings that significantly boosted his IPL prospects.
According to reports, Sarthak Ranjan made his domestic cricket debut for Delhi in 2016.
Since then, he has steadily refined his game, showing the ability to perform in limited-over and longer formats.
His solid technique, calm temperament, and attacking approach have established him as a dependable opener.
