Patna, August 16, 2025: JDU working president Sanjay Jha on Saturday dismissed opposition concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, saying it is not a matter of public worry but only being politicized ahead of elections.

“SIR has started in Bihar, and it is happening only here. It is not an issue among the common people of the state. Have you seen anyone protesting on the streets? It is only opposition leaders making it an issue because elections are near,” Jha said, taking a swipe at the upcoming Vote Adhikar Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav from Sasaram.

Sanjay Jha defended the Election Commission:

Mocking the opposition march, Jha said, “During the Yatra, they will put a cot somewhere or sleep in a tent somewhere. This is what they will do. The Election Commission is working transparently. It has clearly been said that only the names of the deceased, those who have shifted permanently, or those with dual voter cards are being removed. What is wrong with that?”

Sanjay Jha backed PM Modi’s statements:

Sanjay Jha also backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks on GST, Indo-Pak relations, and Swadeshi goods.

On GST, he said, “PM Modi gave a big message from the Red Fort. This will reduce prices of essential items and bring down inflation, giving relief to common people in the future.”

On the PM’s comment that “blood and water cannot flow together,” Jha added, “He is absolutely right. The earlier treaty was wrong and one-sided. We gave them water meant for our farmers, but what we got in return is what everyone knows. Pakistan is not a friendly country, and the then government did injustice by signing that agreement. This government stands with farmers and cattle rearers.”

Jha further praised Modi’s advocacy for Swadeshi products as a fitting reply to U.S. tariff hikes.

“He appealed to put Swadeshi boards outside shops. This will strengthen domestic manufacturers, circulate money within the country, and reduce dependency on foreign goods,” he said.
