Patna, November 19, 2025: Political developments intensified in Bihar on Wednesday as the BJP legislative party, in its meeting held in Patna, elected Samrat Choudhary as its leader and Vijay Sinha s the deputy leader.
This comes a day after the JDU unanimously elected Nitish Kumar as its legislative party leader.
Samrat Choudhary is likely to retain his Deputy CM post:
With these selections, it is now almost certain, according to the political experts and party sources, that Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha will take oath as Deputy Chief Ministers in the new government.
The BJP’s decision also puts an end to week-long speculation that the party might be bringing in new faces or even a woman MLA for the Deputy CM post.
The BJP, which emerged as the largest party in this Assembly election, winning 89 out of 101 seats it contested, has reaffirmed its trust in both Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, who have been key organizational and legislative figures in the party.
After being elected leader of the BJP legislative party, Samrat Choudhary said, “I express my gratitude to the party leadership and all MLAs for giving me the opportunity to lead the party again. The party has shown trust in us, and we will strive to live up to expectations.”
Vijay Sinha, elected as deputy leader, said, “I thank the Prime Minister, Union Home Minister and the party’s national president for their confidence in me.”
