Patna, September 10, 2025: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Wednesday inspected the newly constructed Purnea Airport along with Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit and DGP Vinay Kumar, ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit.

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the airport and launch projects worth around Rs. 45,000 crore during his rally in Purnea on September 15.

Samrat Choudhary says it will be a big gift for Bihar:

Speaking to reporters after the inspection, Samrat Choudhary said, “On September 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to give a big gift of about Rs. 45,000 crore projects, including the inauguration of Purnea airport. This will give a new direction to the development of Purnea along with the whole of Bihar.”

He added that the Seemanchal and Kosi region was particularly excited as the airport would open new avenues for growth and connectivity.

Boost to air travel in Kosi-Seemanchal:

Currently, residents of districts like Purnea, Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Supaul and Madhepura rely on Bagdogra airport (West Bengal) for flights.

At present, there airports at Patna, Darbhanga and Gaya are operational in Bihar.

Samrat Choudhary also highlighted several key projects approved by the Modi government.

He said the Mokama—Munger Greenfield Expressway of 82.4 km will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 4,447 crore.

It is a part of the Buxar—Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor. This project will drastically cut travel time across the region.

He also said that the doubling of the Bhagalpur—Dumka—Rampurhat Railway Line of 177 km at a cost of Rs. 3,169 crore.

This upgrade will reduce congestion and enhance railway capacity while improving connectivity to major religious destinations such as Deoghar (Baba Baidyanath Dham) and Tarapith (Shakti Peeth).

“These projects will not only improve connectivity but also boost tourism and trade across Bihar and Jharkhand,” Choudhary said while expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi.
