Patna, January 17, 2026: On day two of the Samridhi Yatra, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Choudhary said that the state government is focused on large-scale employment generation.

He stated that 50 lakh people have already been provided government jobs and employment opportunities in the last five years, and the government has now set a target of creating one crore jobs.

“To achieve this goal, a strong network of industries is being developed in Bihar. The state has formulated the country’s best industrial policy. An industrial corridor is under construction, and a defence corridor will also be developed in Bihar to boost employment opportunities,” Samrat Choudhary said.

Samrat Choudhary highlighted the poor infrastructure before 2005:

Highlighting the developmental transformation of the state, the Deputy Chief Minister said that before 2005, Bihar suffered from poor roads, erratic electricity supply, lack of clean drinking water, and weak healthcare services.

“Earlier, it used to take seven to eight hours to travel from Patna to Motihari, but today the journey is completed in four hours. A network of expressways is being laid across Bihar, and an airport is also being constructed in Raxaul,” he added.

Addressing a public meeting at Gandhi Maidan in Motihari, Samrat Choudhary said that before 2005, cities in Bihar received only four to five hours of electricity.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, every village and city now receives 24-hour electricity. The government is also providing 125 units of free electricity to 1.9 crore families. This is the new and transformed Bihar,” he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister also referred to the installation of the world’s largest Sahasralingam at the Virat Ramayan temple in Kaithwalia, East Champaran. He said the government would construct boundary walls, roads, and other infrastructure to ensure the overall development of the area.

Expressing gratitude to the people, Samrat Choudhary said the NDA government is thankful for the public mandate, noting that the alliance won 10 out of 11 seats in Motihari.

“We will fulfill all the promises made to the people. The foundation of a prosperous Bihar is being strengthened through the Samridhi Yatra,” he said.

He further stated that Bihar’s budget, which once stood at Rs 6,000 crore, has now increased to Rs 3.17 lakh crore. “After the construction of the grand Shri Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the Virat Ramayan Temple in Motihari, a magnificent Janaki Temple is also being built at Punauradham, Sitamarhi, the birthplace of mother Janaki. In Bihar, development is progressing alongside the preservation of religious and cultural heritage,” he added.

Samridhi Yatra reached Motihari on day two:

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Samridhi Yatra (Prosperity Tour) entered its second day on Saturday, during which he arrived in Motihari and laid the foundation stone and inaugurated several development projects worth crores of rupees.

Apart from Nitish Kumar and Samrat Choudhary, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, and dignitaries were present on the occasion.

During the visit, Nitish Kumar inspected various exhibition stalls set up at the venue and expressed special appreciation for the stalls run by Jeevika self-help groups.
