Patna, November 17, 2025: After the crushing defeat in the Bihar Assembly elections, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Monday held a major review meeting in Patna.

Party National President Lalu Prasad Yadav, Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, Tejashwi Yadav, all newly elected MLAs, and defeated candidates attended the meetings, where the party extensively discussed the election outcome and future strategy.

According to party sources, the RJD is still not convinced about the legitimacy of the NDA’s sweeping victory and is now keeping an option open to challenge the election results through legal means.

RJD leader Dr Sanjeev Kumar suspects EVM manipulation:

Former Parbatta MLA Dr Sanjeev Kumar, who participated in the meeting, expressed strong doubts over the results.

The result is surprising. This is impossible without some kind of manipulation,” he said.

“People are saying it’s a victory of Nitish Kumar’s development. He was doing development in the past, but did not achieve such a result. I, too, carried out significant development work in my constituency, yet I lost.”

He reiterated allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering, claiming that a confidential list was prepared prior to the elections.

A list of 65 seats was made before polling, including my seat. This list was with an official. I have seen it myself. Those 65 seats were targeted,” he alleged.

Dr Sanjeev also questioned the narrow victory margins of RJD’s winning candidates.

“Among the 25 MLAs we won, several were expected to secure over 50,000 votes, but they won by only 10,000 to 11,000 votes,” he said.

He further pointed to the party’s total vote share, stating, “The RJD received 1.8 crore votes. It is clear that the public supported us.”

Other RJD leaders also put question marks on EVMs:

Similar allegations were raised by RJD’s Maner MLA Bhai Virendra, who squarely blamed EVMs for the defeat.

“There was an alleged fraud in the EVM. We must fight against it,” he said.

“During the postal ballot counting, RJD candidates were leading. Once EVM counting began, we started losing. We won the postal ballot counted; we lost when EVMs were counted. The legal option is open to us. These results are shocking.”

RJD’s Lalganj Assembly candidate Shivani Shukla questioned the credibility of polling numbers, noting that an independent candidate reportedly received zero votes.

“When such a situation arises, people will naturally have questions,” she said.

As the RJD intensified its review and considers legal challenges, the controversy over EVMs and alleged irregularities is expected to become a major political flashpoint in Bihar in the coming days.
