Patna, March 28, 2024: The nomination process for the first phase of the Lok Sabha election 2024 gained momentum in Bihar on Thursday, with RJD candidate Shrawan Kushwaha filing his papers from Nawada and Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular (HAM-S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi filing his from Gaya.
Nawada: RJD’s Shrawan Kushwaha enters the fray:
RJD nominee Shrawan Kushwaha was accompanied by party leaders Shakti Singh Yadav, Sagarika Paswan, and strongman Ashok Mahto as he submitted his nomination papers before the district administration in Nawada.
He will take on BJP’s Vivek Thakur, who also filed nomination on Thursday.
“This election is a fight between ‘Modi and Mudda (issues),” Kushwaha said, adding that people of Bihar were rallying behind the INDIA bloc.
“Unemployment is the biggest challenge. Prices of essential commodities are soaring, and the Centre has failed to deliver on its 2019 promises. On the other hand, Tejashwi Yadav created over 5 lakh jobs during the 17-month Mahagathbandhan rule in Bihar.”
Following the nomination, Kushwaha was greeted by enthusiastic Mahagathbandhan supporters outside the district magistrate’s office.
Gaya: Jitan Ram Manjhi in the contest:
In Gaya, HAM-S supremo and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi filed his nomination as the NDA candidate. He will face RJS’s Kumar Sarvjeet, who also submitted his papers on Thursday.
“Everyone contests elections to win. I have spent 44 years in politics, and I want to dedicate my remaining life to the service of common people,” Manjhi said after filing his nomination.
Polling schedule:
Both Nawada and Gaya will go to the polls in the first phase on April 19. Thursday (March 28) was the last date for filing nominations.
