Patna, April 11, 2024: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s eldest daughter and Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti stirred a major controversy on Thursday after claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders would go to jail if the INDIA bloc forms the government at the Centre.
Addressing an election rally in Maner area of the Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency, Misa Bharti said, “They are accusing us of corruption and dynastic politics, but who will answer about the electoral bonds scam? If the INDIA alliance government comes to power in the country, PM Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders will go to jail.”
“We are talking about doubling farmers’ income and implementing the Minimum Support Price (MSP), while he keeps accusing us of appeasement,” Misa Bharti said.
BJP candidate sharply reacted to Misa Bharti’s statement:
Her remarks triggered sharp reactions from BJP leaders in Bihar.
Ram Kripal Yadav, BJP candidate from Patliputra—who is contesting directly against Misa Bharti—hit back, saying, “Those who are saying this will themselves go to jail.”
Vijay Kumar Sinha questioned Lalu’s family wealth:
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also lashed out at the RJD leader, questioning the Yadav family’s wealth. “They were once living in peon quarters—how did they become kings of castles? How did they acquire malls and a farmhouse? After the election, it will be decided who will go to jail,” Sinha said.
Misa Bharti’s comments have further intensified the political war of words between the RJD and BJP in Bihar, especially in the high-profile Patliputra constituency, which has become one of the most closely watched seats in the state.
