Patna, May 25, 2024:  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the RJD and Congress, saying the two parties will turn on each other after the Lok Sabha results and accusing the broader INDIA alliance of pursuing appeasement politics.

Addressing a rally in Dehri block of the Karakat Lok Sabha constituency during the sixth phase of polling in Bihar, Modi said the opposition will blame one another for defeat and pointedly predicted public scenes of discord.

“On the day of the election result, RJD people will say that Congress has failed in this election. They will start tearing each other’s clothes. The royal family of Congress will blame Mallikarjun Kharge for the defeat and go on a holiday abroad,” the Prime Minister said.

PM Modi criticized Congress for its silence over the Punjab incident:

PM Modi also referred to an alleged incident in Punjab—where, he said, a Congress leader insulted Bihari migrant workers—and accused Congress of remaining silent.

“These people wear the mask of social justice but practice appeasement. They have become slaves of vote-bank politics and dance to the tune of their vote banks,” he said.

The Prime Minister renewed his criticism of the opposition over policies on reservations and minority institutions, claiming the INDIA bloc seeks to alter constitutional protections and introduce religion-based reservations.

“The constitution says there will be no reservation on the basis of religion. Baba Saheb Ambedkar said so. Yet RJD and Congress want reservations on the basis of religion. As long as Modi is alive, I will not let the rights of SC, ST, OBC and Extremely backward people be snatched away,” he asserted.

Contrast between the NDA and the Congress-led INDIA bloc:

PM Modi contrasted his governance agenda with what he described as the opposition’s empty rhetoric.

“In this election, there is Modi, who works hard for you 24 hours a day. On the other side is the INDIA alliance, which lies to you 24 hours a day. They used to threaten me that if I acted against big, corrupt people, it would shake my chair. I tell them: whoever has stolen from the poor—king or prince—will have to go to jail,” he said.

He further claimed that the ongoing polling had weakened the INDIA bloc’s momentum.

“The voting in the sixth phase has taken the wind out of the INDIA alliance. It is clearly visible that the shutters of all the princes are going to fall,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister also appealed to voters to back the NDA candidates in the upcoming phases, repeating development promises and highlighting government initiatives.
