Patna, April 3, 2024: Former Union Law Minister Ravishankar Prasad launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of running away from Amethi and opting to contest again from Wayanad in Kerala.
Ravishankar Prasad’s remarks came a day after Rahul filed his nomination from Wayanad, the seat he won in 2019.
The family members of Rahul Gandhi contested the Amethi Lok Sabha constituency in the past and were elected as well, but why is Rahul Gandhi afraid of that constituency? Why is he running away from Amethi? Why is he contesting from Wayanad? What kind of politics does he want to do in the country by adopting the policy of appeasement?” Prasad said.
Ravishankar Prasad said Rahul Gandhi is lacking confidence:
The BJP leader further claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s return to Wayanad indicates a lack of confidence in his traditional stronghold.
“People of the country know how to respond to such leaders. The path of Wayanad will turn difficult this time for Rahul Gandhi,” he added.
When questioned about dynastic politics within the BJP, Ravishankar Prasad declined to comment directly but hit out at the RJD.
“I never object to any ticket given to any member of a family, but I must say that RJD is a dynastic party. Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family owns the party. One member becomes chief minister or MP—the entire family is in politics,” Prasad said.
Tejashwi Yadav’s counterattack:
Earlier, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the BJP should look within before criticizing dynastic politics.
PM Modi is coming to Jamui to campaign for a dynastic candidate,” Tejashwi said, referring to Arun Bharti, the LJP (Ram Vilas) candidate and brother-in-law of the party chief Chirag Paswan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to launch the Bihar’s NDA election campaign from Jamui on April 4, where he will address a public rally in support of Arun Bharti, the NDA’s candidate for the Jamui Lok Sabha seat.
