Patna, August 18, 2025: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Election Commission of India, accusing them of conspiring to “ steal votes” and undermine democracy.
Addressing a gathering during the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Gaya, Rahul Gandhi held up a copy of the Constitution and said, “This Constitution was made by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. It carries the voice of 3,000 years, the voice of the country’s heart. When they steal the vote, they attack the heart of the Constitution and the nation. We will not allow Narendra Modi or the Election Commission to attack our Constitution. No one can finish it.”
He also warned that if the Election Commission failed to discharge its duty, “action will be taken against those who are running the Election Commission.”
Rahul Gandhi interacted with the locals of Aurangabad:
Earlier on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi, along with Tejashwi Yadav, Dipankar Bhattacharya, Mukesh Sahani and other INDIA bloc leaders interacted with people in Aurangabad.
Many villagers complained that their names had been deleted from the voters’ list after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
A clip of the interaction was shared by Rahul Gandhi on his official X handle, where locals alleged large-scale discrepancies.
A villager named Sunil Uraon claimed his ward earlier had 600 plus voters, but after SIR, the number crossed 1,000, with names of people who don’t even have houses here added to the rolls.
Another, Renu Devi of Nauhatta block (Aurangabad), said six members of her family found their names missing despite voting in earlier elections.

Rahul Gandhi claimed votes were allegedly rigged in Karnataka and Maharashtra:
Rahul Gandhi said similar pattern were reported from Karnataka and Maharashtra, alleging that names of genuine voters were being cut while fake ones were added to influence elections.

“They are allegedly cutting the names of voters to steal the election,” he said.
He also alleged that the Centre had passed a law granting impunity to those running the Election Commission, shielding them from legal accountability.
