Rahul Gandhi claimed the government does not want a debate on the NEET paper leak issue

New Delhi June 29: The leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi claimed entire opposition parties wanted a constructive discussion on the NEET question paper leak case but the ruling parties do not want a debate on it.

While uploading a post on his official X handle, Rahul Gandhi said:

“The NEET question paper leak case is related to the future of more than 2 crore students who want their career to build in the medical field but the ruling parties do not want a debate on it.”

“The INDIA Opposition bloc wants to have a constructive debate with the government in this matter. It is unfortunate that we weren’t allowed to do so in the parliament on Friday. This is a serious concern that is causing anxiety to lakhs of families across India. We urge the prime minister to debate on this issue for one day and give the students the respect they deserve,” Gandhi said.

“There has been a disaster as far as NEET is concerned. Everybody knows that the paper was leaked and people made thousands of crores of rupees and the students were hurt and damaged. They study for years. It is their dream and their aspiration to enter into the medical field and their dream and aspiration was destroyed in ridicule,” he said.

“In the opposition meeting, I personally raised this issue to send the message among students that we care for them and we believe in them. They are the future of the country. There was a unanimous agreement for the discussion on NEET for a day is required and we are committed to the discussion peacefully. I tried to raise it in the parliament. It is affecting 2 crore students. The question papers were leaked 70 times in 7 years. It is clear that there is a systemic problem and a huge amount of corruption involved in it. We cannot continue like this,” Gandhi said.

“Also, students want a resolution quickly. The idea behind the discussion is to reach a resolution on this issue. Crores of people and their family members are in pain. They don’t know what will happen in the future and it is important to give them clarity,” he said.

“It is unfortunate that the government did not want discussion on it. It seems to me the direction was directly from the prime minister. It is sad that the prime minister of India, who in fact should be leading the discussion, simply does not want a debate. We are ready for the debate and we do not want to fight with the government. We just want the place the issue on the table,” he said.
