Patna, August 17, 2025: The Voter Adhikar Yatra led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav began on Sunday with a massive rally at the airport ground in Sasaram.

Senior leaders of the INDIA bloc, including RJD National President Lalu Prasad Yadav, Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Bihar CM Rabri Devi, Bhupesh Baghel, Dipankar Bhattacharya,, Mukesh Sahani and other leaders, were present at the launch. Addressing the gathering, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the BJP, alleging that it is no longer in power through democracy, but through the robbery of elections.

Rahul Gandhi alleged the BJP is trying to steal votes through SIR in Bihar:

He said that whether in Lok Sabha or state assemblies, the BJP was winning by stealing votes and the same conspiracy was being attempted in Bihar through Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list.

Citing examples, Rahul Gandhi claimed that in Maharashtra, one crore new voters were magically added to the rolls just four months after the Lok Sabha elections, which he alleged, helped the BJP form the government. Similarly, in Karnataka, he said an inquiry found nearly one lakh votes in one assembly constituency of a Lok Sabha seat, which changed the outcome in the BJP’s favour.

This is a direct attack on democracy,” he said.

Assuring the people of Bihar, Rahul Gandhi declared, “This is Bihar, where people know the power of the right to vote. If there is an attack on democracy, the people here will be the first to stand against it. We will stop vote theft and restore people’s rights.”

Lalu Prasad Yadav flags off the Yatra of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav:

The Voter Adhikar Yatra was flagged off by Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday.

Addressing the massive gathering, Tejashwi Yadav launched a direct attack on the Election Commission and PM Narendra Modi.

“This is not a simple theft of your vote but outright robbery. PM Narendra Modi wants to cheat the Biharis. But this is Bihar, where lime is rubbed with Khaini. Biharis may be poor, but every child here works with spices chill. We will not allow dishonesty at any cost,” Tejashwi declared, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

In his brief but impactful address, Lalu Prasad Yadav struck a nostalgic chord with his trademark style, reciting his famous line: “Lagal Lagal Jhulania Me Dhakka Balam Kakkata Chale.”

He also thanked Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders of the INDIA bloc for standing together in the fight to protect voting rights.

The Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav will cover 1300 KM in 25 districts before concluding at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, on September 1.
