Rahul Gandhi advocated for a caste census in the country and criticized BJP-RSS in Patna.

Patna, April 7, 2025: Congress leader and former party president Rahul Gandhi on Monday launched a sharp attack on the BJP-RSS leadership, accusing them of deliberately opposing the caste-based census to maintain the existing social imbalance.

Addressing a large gathering of party workers at the Samvidhan Bachao Sammelan at Sri Krishna Memorial Hall, Gandhi described the caste census as a vital tool for ensuring social justice.

“Mohan Bhagwat says there’s no need for a caste-based census. I want to tell him the caste census is an x-ray of society. It gives a clear picture of the population, caste-wise so that appropriate policies can be formulated,” Rahul Gandhi said.

He cited the example of Telangana, where the Congress government has already conducted a caste survey, claiming it has the potential to transform the political landscape.

Rahul Gandhi pushes the social representation in Congress:

Rahul Gandhi highlighted the party’s organizational reforms in Bihar.

“Earlier, two-thirds of our district presidents were from upper castes. Now, under Malikarjun Kharge’s leadership, we have restructured and appointed OBCs, EBCs, Dalits, and Mahadalits to nearly two-thirds of those positions,” he said.

He urged party workers to connect directly with deprived sections of society and ensure their concerns are addressed at the grassroots level.

Gandhi expressed confidence that Bihar would once again lead the way in bringing about political change, as it has in the past.

Attack on RSS ideology and Savarkar:

In a bold ideological critique, Rahul Gandhi said the RSS does not believe in the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.

“This Constitution is not just from 1947 it reflects the wisdom of thousands of years of Indian civilization. Can Savarkar’s ideology be part of that? It cannot. He couldn’t face the truth, and that’s a fact whether someone likes it or not, “he said.

He emphasized that leaders like BR Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi learned from the pain and struggles of the Indian people and embedded struggles of the Indian people and embedded those lessons in the Constitution.

“Ambedkar fought for the Dalits because he understood their pain. That’s the truth we must uphold,” Gandhi said.

Gandhi said the current political atmosphere has made it difficult to speak the truth, suggesting that many top leaders were afraid of doing so. “People know the truth, but leaders are scared to speak. Still, our fight for truth continues,” he said

Critique of economic inequality:

Taking a dig at economic disparity, Gandhi commented on the recent volatility in the stock market and its irrelevance to the common people.

“The U.S. President affects all stock market. But how many of you invest there? Less than 1%. It’s not your tool it’s for the rich. You won’t benefit from it,” Gandhi said.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come at a time when the Congress party is gearing up for the 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections, with a focus on social justice, organizational reforms, and grassroots outreach.
