Patna, November 1, 2025: Congress MP from Wayanad Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that the money is being distributed ahead of polling to influence voters.

Addressing a massive rally in Bachwara assembly constituency in Begusarai, she said, “Before elections, they did not give anything to the people of Bihar, and now they are giving Rs 10,000 to influence the voters. I want to ask them why they are giving money in the middle of the election. Take the money if they give it, but vote carefully. Don’t let them buy your vote.”

Priyanka Gandhi said she would also make promises to the public, and added that if Congress fails to deliver, “throw us out next time”.

Priyanka Gandhi alleged ruling parties for the underdevelopment of Bihar:

She said Bihar was a land from where Mahatma Gandhi began his freedom movement and questioned why the state had not achieved the development it deserved.

She alleged that the Modi-led BJP government had weakened the constitutional rights, including the right to vote.

Priyanka pointed out that the BJP-led government is practicing divisive politics based on caste and religion and distracting people by raising unrelated issues.

According to her, the recent voter list revision cut 65 lakh names, which she termed as a direct attack on rights, arguing that once the voter is deleted from the electoral rolls, benefits linked to government schemes also get impacted.

Priyanka Gandhi criticized Nitish Kumar:

Priyanka Gandhi also hit out at the long tenure of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying, “He has governed Bihar for 20 years. Why didn’t he give jobs then? Now, he promises 1.5 crore jobs during the election.”

She accused the Centre of benefitting industrialists, privatizing national assets and increasing the burden of taxes, alleging that this has worsened unemployment and forced large-scale migration from Bihar.

“Jobs are not available, and families are breaking up due to migration.’ From Kerala to Kashmir, I have seen people from Bihar working everywhere.”

She alleged that the BJP has imposed taxes on everything, privatizing national assets, and pushed contract-based employment.

She further said the BJP keeps talking about the past and claimed that key national institutions like IIT, IIM, and AIIMS were established during the Nehru era.

“Who built IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS? These were built by Jawaharlal Nehru. When we speak about the past, their arguments don’t stand. We talk about the present and not about the history,” Priyanka said.

Defending Rahul Gandhi’s advocacy of caste-census, she said BJP opposed it initially and only brought it up after facing setbacks in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“When Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of the caste-based-census, the entire BJP, from Narendra Modi to a small BJP leader, opposed it,” she said.

The BJP did not get the desired results in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, and then they realized that the equation was changing. Hence, they spoke about the caste census and reservation, but they went to court and pushed it into the cold store,” Priyanka said.
