Patna, November 8, 2025: Congress General Secretary and Lok Sabha MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday leveled serious allegations of “vote theft” against the Centre and top Election Commission officials, while addressing a rally in Purnea.

She accused the BJP of attempting to weaken democratic rights, alleging that the ruling party resorted to voter suppression due to fear of losing public support.
“The Constitution gives power to the people. When the BJP realized the public mood was turning against them, they started stealing votes,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi alleged that around 65 lakh names had been removed from Bihar’s voter list and described this as an attack on democracy.

She also directly named three senior Election Commission officials—Gyanesh Kumar, Vivek Joshi and S S Sandhu—claiming that they were “shielding” the BJP, and asserted that they must be held accountable.

Priyanka Gandhi alleged PM’s language touched a new low:

Targeting PM Modi, she said that despite holding the Prime Minister’s post, his language was lowering the dignity of the office.

“Narendra Modi is not even able to maintain the dignity of his post,” she said.

Referring to alleged distress in agriculture, she cited an incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Lalitpur where a farmer, she claimed, died after waiting two days in a queue for fertilizer.

Priyanka accused the Modi government of working for “a new industrialist friend” rather than creating institutions, jobs or opportunities. She alleged that cheap land in Bihar was given to corporate groups while youth continued to struggle for employment, and recruitment exams suffered from repeated paper leaks.

Priyanka Gandhi appealed to voters to support the Grand Alliance:

Appealing for support to the Mahagathbandhan, she promised that voting for the alliance would bring relief measures—including Rs 500 LPG cylinders, land for landless families, Rs 2,500 monthly deposits into women’s accounts, Rs 1,500 pensions for widows and the elderly, and Rs 30,000 monthly salaries for Jeevika workers.

She also reminded people of Bihar’s historical role in nation-building, saying the state had always been at the centre of India’s cultural and political movements, from Ganga-Jamuni syncretism to Mahatma Gandhi’s Satyagraha.
