Prashant Kishor’s Hunger strike Intensifies for the cancellation of the 70th PT exam.

Patna January 3, 2024: Prashant Kishor, the leader of the Jan Suraj Party, has galvanized students and supporters with his hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan, Patna, which began on Thursday evening.

The movement seeks justice for BPSC candidates and highlights concerns about transparency and accountability in Bihar’s recruitment processes.

Prashant Kishor and candidates’ confrontation with authorities:

On Friday, the ADM of Patna visited the protest site, urging Kishor to end his hunger strike. However, Prashant Kishor refused, stating. “Thousands of children have faith in me. On December 29, I asked the students to disperse the administration’s orders, but they were brutally lathi-charged. Under no circumstances will I withdraw this movement on administrative orders,”

Prashant Kishor emphasized that the hunger strike will only end if the Chief Minister meets the protesting students.

“The students themselves decide the next steps for the movement and I would accept the students’ decision,” he said.

Solidarity amid harsh weather conditions:

Despite the biting cold, Kishor’s fast into death entered its second day on Friday, with thousands of BPSC candidates and Jan Suraj supporters standing in solidarity.

The protest is peaceful yet resolute, with slogans against the government echoing throughout Gandhi Maidan.

A prominent chant is, “The government which cannot conduct re-examination is useless.”

The current protest revolving around 5 core demands, including, Re-examination of the BPSC 70th PT Exam, ensuring transparency and integrity in future examinations and holding accountable those responsible for alleged irregularities.

The Jan Suraj Party and protesting students are determined to fight for these reforms, viewing the current examination process as deeply flawed.

This hunger strike has become a significant political and social event, drawing attention to systemic issues in Bihar’s governance. It has also created ripples in the state government, evident from the continuous deployment of police forces at the protest site.

As Kishor and his supporters stand firm, the focus shifts to the Bihar government’s response.
